President Bush Proclaims National Sanctity of Human Life Day, 2007

President Bush Proclaims National Sanctity of Human Life Day, 2007

Full text of proclamation follows:

America was founded on the principle that we are all endowed by our Creator with the right to life and that every individual has dignity and worth. National Sanctity of Human Life Day helps foster a culture of life and reinforces our commitment to building a compassionate society that respects the value of every human being.

Among the most basic duties of Government is to defend the unalienable right to life, and my Administration is committed to protecting our society's most vulnerable members. We are vigorously promoting parental notification laws, adoption, abstinence education, crisis pregnancy programs, and the vital work of faith-based groups. Through the "Born-Alive Infants Protection Act of 2002," the "Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act of 2003," and the "Unborn Victims of Violence Act of 2004," we are helping to make our country a more hopeful place.

One of our society's challenges today is to harness the power of science to ease human suffering without sanctioning practices that violate the dignity of human life. With the right policies, we can continue to achieve scientific progress while living up to our ethical and moral responsibilities.

National Sanctity of Human Life Day serves as a reminder that we must value human life in all forms, not just those considered healthy, wanted, or convenient. Together, we can work toward a day when the dignity and humanity of every person is respected.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, GEORGE W. BUSH, President of the United States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim Sunday, January 21, 2007, as National Sanctity of Human Life Day. I call upon all Americans to recognize this day with appropriate ceremonies and to underscore our commitment to respecting and protecting the life and dignity of every human being.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this eighteenth day of January, in the year of our Lord two thousand seven, and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and thirty-first.

GEORGE W. BUSH

  5. Praise God!  I have a a 41 y/o son who was raised and loved by his adoptive parents.  Some years ago, he came to find me and has just found his father as well.  I was offered a "theraputic abortion" but even at 15 years old when I got pregnant, I just couldn't kill my baby.  These 41 years later, I am still actively  pro-life.  Lord love our President!  Blessings, Penny  http://journals.aol.com/firestormkids04/FromHeretoThere

  8. Hello my friend.  We don't know each other but my friend sent me your site.  You see, I am the mother of a 17 year old daughter.  I found out Thursday, Febraury 1, 2007, I found out that my daughter had an abortion.  Sent me into shock so severely that I ended up going to the doctor to be able to get through it.
I knew my daughter was sexually active.  I knew that she was on the pill because I put her on it.  I knew that something happened and she was pregnant.  We talked about it and she wanted her baby with all her heart but her boyfriend was pushing her to have an abortion.  Pushing her so hard that he threatened to break up over it.  At the end of our conversation, she was quite certain that she was keeping her baby no matter what.
The next thing I know, I find a letter on my computer where she is talking about it.  Wasn't marked private or hidden, just accidentally came across it.  It would seem that he got his parents in on it behind my back and pushed her into killing her baby.  All done behind my back, his parents drove her there, he paid for it and they hid it from me.
All I could think of was how horrible it was to read this letter takling about how she was forced, no one would take her side, no one supported her, no one cared and that she felt like she wanted to die because of what she did.
When I confonted her about it she was furious about my finding out.  Now, she's gone, not living with me anymore.  In this state it's not illegal to have an abortion at this age without my permission.  It's not even that I would refuse to give her my permission if that was what she insisted on.  Those words never came out of her mouth. She wanted it with all her heart and soul.
Now, she's with her boyfriend and his parents are backing her up and telling her that I am the bad guy.  I'm very greived.  These parents think nothing about what they did, they protected the
