To quote the famous song ironically by Jackson “Doesn’t Matter If You’re Black Or White”

"> Like I said 20/20 last night gave me so much to write about.  Not really thinking, I sat and watched the show with my 9yrd son, letting him stay up a bit later since it was a Friday night.  Well I cringed a bit when they started talking about the Jackson case and preparing in my head the No Touching Rule speech to give my son, always looking for a teaching tool ya know but the conversation we had was way off that subject.  The show focused on Jackson’s angry brother and his interview with Barbra.  He spewed out “This is a modern day lynching” and “ this is about the whites trying to keep the blacks down” My sweet darling boy, who has grown up mostly the only white kid in his class  and has had many black friends and even has cousins that are mixed, ask the question “Mom what is a lynching?” I did fumble a bit with the correct words to say, “Well, along time ago a lot of white ppl did not like black ppl and sometimes to make a point they would take a black person and hang him from a tree with a rope around his neck, and that would kill the person, it is a very hateful thing to do, it is murder.” He had a puzzled look on his face, and I thought to myself, how sweet that he is having trouble believing that ppl would actually do that but then he lays me on the floor with his next comment, “Michael Jackson is Black???” OMG not to be ignorant but I was laughing sooooooooo dang hard! My naive son just didn’t get why I was laughing, he felt he asked a legitimate question. This whole subject could lead into many posts about race issues and about famous ppl buying justice or about child abuse, but you know there is only so much room on here. Take your pick on what one you think I should take up for my next post.
